Glen Lochay - 28 March

St Leonards Ramblers braved the elements on their latest outing when they walked directly into 55 mile an hour winds in Glen Lochay.

The morning stop in Callander preceded the drive along Loch Lubnaig, by Lochearnhead , through Killin and along the narrow twisting road to the start of both walks at Kenknock.  A round of applause for Arthur our driver was well deserved as the final 7 miles of the journey would have severely tested the skill of any car driver.

Both groups set off westward down the valley to be met headlong by gale force winds and squally showers for the three miles or so to the shelter of the farm buildings at Batavaime. It was here that lunch was consumed before the high walkers moved out north to climb up the hillside to about 1400ft before turning east to make their way back towards their starting point.

The low walkers returned to the coach by retracing their steps but with the wind behind making for an easier walk.

A social stop in Killin before the journey back to East Kilbride was enjoyed by all.
